The Newtown Festival Street Fair is a force to be reckoned with each year in Wellington, drawing in over 75,000 people. FishHead scoured the streets in search of those dressed to stand out from the crowd!
Name: Jayne Mulligan | Age: 23 | Occupation: Bookseller at Vic Books | Style icons: “Everyday people I see around uni and Wellington” | Jayne looked 1950s cool in an outfit inspired by her sister. FishHead especially loved her head scarf, pinched from her mum, and the way she paired old and new with an op-shop skirt, Vietnamese sunglasses, sandals from Number One Shoes and stunning silver jewellery from Meadowlark and Walter Crow.
Name: Charlotte Graham | Age: 28 | Occupation: Journalist | Style icons: “Patti Smith” | Charlotte caught the eye of FishHead immediately in her stand-out dress from Ruby, paired with a delicate bralette from Lonely to create an ultra-feminine look. Chunky white sandals from Hannahs add a sense of fun to the outfit, finished off perfectly with Karen Walker sunglasses we’re still coveting!
Name: Zane Walker (left) and Perry Hyde (right) | Age: 21 and 20 | Occupation: Students | Style icons: “Johnny Depp, Russell Brand and hippies” | Wellington friends Zane and Perry proved two really can be better than one with their super-laid-back styles. Both rocked shirts pinched from their siblings, op-shop steals and bespoke copper necklaces crafted by Perry himself. And let’s not forget those matching ukuleles… Play us a tune would you?
Name: Mateyus Curran | Age: 30 | Occupation: Industrial designer | Style icons: “Culture and history” | FishHead immediately fell in love with Mateyus’s thoroughly put-together style. From the op-shop scarf and waistcoat to the Emporium sunglasses and Mischief boots, the gypsy vibe of this look was every bit as cool as Johnny Depp in Chocolat. Just take a look at those beautiful necklaces from Bali and Mexico!
